Region 9 Healthcare Coalition Staffing Update

Region 9 HeHCC logoalthcare Coalition Announcement Staffing Update

April 1, 2016

Greetings Region 9 Healthcare Coalition Partners,

I’m delighted to share that I have an incredibly unique opportunity to fulfill a dream. Starting April 22, 2016 I will be taking a five month leave of absence from our region with the intention of walking across the United States of America (the short way). I will return full time at the end of September 2016. My wife and I will use the sabbatical to average ~20 miles per day, every day, as we walk through the Mojave Desert, Sierra Mountains, Oregon plateau and Cascade Mountain range to complete the 2,650 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail.

An opportunity like this is only possible due to the members who have invested energy and time into the Healthcare Coalition (HCC) to develop the bonds and ties needed to continue to advance our mission. I’m incredibly grateful to the staff of the HCC, Spokane Regional Health District, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, and Washington State Department of Health who have committed to continue this work in my absence.  We have incredible relationships through the HCC that extend beyond agency walls, badge titles or position descriptions to allow exemplary collaboration in planning and response.

The HCC has many projects in motion that will continue forward through 2016. Membership meetings are scheduled for May 26, 2016, July 28, 2016 and our annual meeting on September 22, 2016. Committees to develop regional situational awareness protocols and develop a regional concept of operations for WATrac Patient Tracking are on track and on-time. WATrac support and education will continue to be provided and program support for priorities like the state and regional Disaster Medical Coordination Center.

During this time please do not hesitate to contact the HCC for support or questions on any of the projects, plans, or workgroups. To help identify points of contact here is a link to our current HCC staffing plan. Key contacts can be reached with the following contact information:

  • Ed Dzedzy, Healthcare Coalition Chair,, (509) 725-9213 ext 24
  • Ryan Traylor, Healthcare Coalition Communication Specialist, 509.340-1538
  • Elena Mierau, Healthcare Coalition Support Specialist,, 509-340-1652.
  • All other inquiries can be directed to which will be monitored regularly and directed to the appropriate person.

Thank you for your support, and wish us luck!
